
Dholera international airport
The Dholera International Airport is being developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) with a multi-phase master plan designed to accommodate 20 million passengers per year in the future.Located within the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR), the greenfield airport is a key part of the Delhi-Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC). Current status and tenders
In January 2020, RITES won the Engineering Consultancy contract for the Dholera International Airport project. In February 2021, AAI invited tenders for runway, taxiway, and apron construction, valued at ₹987 crore. Varaha Infra from Jodhpur was selected as the lowest bidder.
location and access
Located north of Dholera Smart City and south of Ahmedabad, the airport site is accessible via NH-751 highway. Future connections include the 109 km Ahmedabad—Dholera Expressway and a semi-high-speed rail line, with a monorail planned but uncertain.


Master plan
The Dholera International Airport will handle 1.5 million passengers annually in its Phase 1 by 2025, with an eventual capacity of 20 million passengers per year upon completion of all phases.The airport will serve not only Dholera but also key regions such as Rajkot, Vadodara, Bhavnagar, Jamnagar, Ahmedabad, Surat, Bharuch, Nadiad, and Anand in Gujarat. Phase 1 is expected to be operational by 2024.
